Choose Your Role
You probably didn’t come here to read 178 pages cover to cover. Pick the role below that matches your job. Each one points at a 5–10 page reading path through this site — the pages that will actually help you, in the order that builds context. Skip the rest with permission.
Pick a role
Section titled “Pick a role” Product Manager Scoping a product or re-platform. You need the end-to-end flow, vendor tradeoffs, lifecycle complexity.
Backend Engineer Building integrations with KRA, exchanges, depository, clearing corp. You need the DAG, the fields, the SLAs.
Frontend / UX Engineer Building the screens. You need fields, validations, error states, and what happens after submit.
Operations Lead BOD scripts, intraday surveillance, EOD reconciliation, cycle items piling up by month-end.
Head of OMS / RMS The layer between order-entry and exchange. Pre-trade pipeline, peak margin, surveillance.
Compliance Officer / CCO Half-yearly compliance certificates. You need every obligation, every evidence artefact, every circular.
Finance / CFO Capital framework, brokerage economics, settlement guarantees, funds upstreaming, protection mechanisms.
Internal Auditor Scoping the half-yearly internal audit with a defensible checklist and regulator-aligned tests.
Statutory Auditor (CA firm) Annual statutory audit. What to ask the broker for, where the documentation lives.
Trainee / New Employee You started this week. By the end of this reading list you'll know what BOD, SPAN, and peak margin mean.
Regulator / Inspector Prepping for an inspection. How a broker maps obligations to evidence, which deep-dives go beyond surface compliance.
Vendor / Integration Partner Talking to a broker about integration. Where you fit in the dependency graph; which fields you touch; what SLA matters.
Not finding your role?
Section titled “Not finding your role?”The 12 above cover the most common readers but they overlap. Two heuristics if you’re between two roles:
- You build software → start with Backend Engineer or Frontend / UX Engineer.
- You sign things that the regulator might inspect → start with Compliance Officer.
- You sign things that affect the firm’s capital → start with Finance / CFO.
- You explain the firm’s broker-ops to someone outside the firm → start with Operations Lead.
You can also skip the persona layer entirely and use the sidebar — that’s how the site was organized before this layer was added. It still works.
